At Jabalí Surfboards, we design and craft personalised wooden surfboards for you to take for a ride wherever your mood takes you. That is why the surfboards are built to order and you rarely find one in a surfshop.

Our boards are handcrafted pieces of art tailored to your surfing needs. And for that we go way beyond you choosing the colour of your finboxes. Actually, the colour of your finboxes is the one thing you cannot choose - they are white.
We make our boards completely by hand, from slicing trees into wood planks for decks, via cutting the internal frame to shaping the board. Additionally we laminate our boards in-house using a hand layup method with fibreglass and ecofriendlier epoxy.
And while we appreciate computerised tools such as laser cutting and CNC shaping we opt to use our hands as we choose to stay close to the craft.
We consider surfability the utmost quality parameter when we build our boards - nobody wants to surf a board that surfs like shit, no matter how beautiful it looks or ecofriendly it is.
Obviously we surf most shapes ourselves to get a feel how they perform. Having said that we are aware of our surfing ability limitations, which is why we also have the boards tested by advanced and pro surfers from France, Spain and Portugal in Atlantic breaks.

Utilising our engineering background and cooperating with fellow shapers, surfers and material researchers we constantly look to improve our surfboards to build to the best suited craft combining waves, rider, environmental friendlines, and durability.
Creating, learning and improving are what gives us pleasure and fun - we hold an engineering degree after all. We therefore build a few test-boards every year to try new ideas, and get intermediate and advanced surfers to surf them during try-out sessions. It is great to see them enjoy our boards, and even better to get feedback about how they surf. In parallel we cooperate with material researchers, and discuss the maddest ideas with an array of shaper buddies.
This approach and drive for innovation allowed us to improve the weight-strength ratio of our boards over the years, improve balance and user-friendliness. It gave us the bombproof deck that prevents knee and heel dents, the supaflex construction which allows you to choose between a stiffer or a more flexible surfboard and the ultralight construction which allows us to build lighter-than-foam shortboards.
Jabali Surfboards are a step towards ecofriendly surfing. Our boards are stronger than its foam cousins and therefore more durable.
Using sustainably grown wood, epoxy glue with a high plant and vegetable matter content, and by minimising the use of and recycling materials, we craft the most environmentally friendly surfboards currently available.
In order to stay ahead of the curve we take part in the ecoboard project, an international initiative by sustainablesurf.org to produce ecofriendlier surfboards in a more healthy manner. Jabali Surfboards received the highest accreditation and is a qualified gold level ecoboard builder.
